Education
changes everything

We are an Italian-Guatemalan nonprofit. We bring training to the most isolated communities in Petén. Your support helps us continue.

A project born
at a lunch table

It was 2018. A group of young Italians and Guatemalans sat down to eat and asked themselves: what do the communities in Petén really need? The answer was simple but hard: quality education, practical tools, connection with the wider world.

From that lunch, Comparte was born. The name means share in Spanish. Today we work in Guatemala with programs in university training, climate education, and rural community development.

"We believe education is the only ingredient capable of triggering sustainable development."

Comparte Cinema screening in a rural Petén community, 2018-2020

Comparte Cinema (2018–2020)

Between 2018 and 2020, we brought Spanish-language film screenings to 7 rural communities in Petén, in collaboration with Cuba's ICAIC. Those evenings are the starting point of Comparte: a concrete way to share culture in places where little arrived. Everything else started from there.

How to
support our work

Donors from outside Italy: SEPA bank transfer to Banca Etica. Italian residents can also direct their 5x1000, an Italian tax allocation mechanism that lets taxpayers direct 0.5% of their income tax to a nonprofit at no extra cost.

What people
often ask us

Can I donate to Comparte from outside Italy?

Yes. Bank transfers from outside Italy go to Banca Etica, SWIFT/BIC CCRTIT2T84A, IBAN IT27J0501803200000016738783, account holder Comparte Onlus. Tax deduction in the donor's country depends on local rules and bilateral treaties.

What is 5x1000 and can foreigners use it?

5x1000 is an Italian tax allocation mechanism that lets taxpayers direct 0.5% of their income tax to a registered nonprofit at no extra cost. It is only available to people who file an Italian tax return. Foreign donors should use the bank transfer route.

How is Comparte different from other NGOs in Guatemala?

Comparte focuses on a single department (Petén) and a single development pillar (education), with three layered programs: university training with USAC/CUDEP, climate education for teenagers, and agricultural training in rural communities. The Italian-Guatemalan founding team has been on the ground in the same territory since 2018.

Who are Comparte's institutional partners?

University partners: USAC, LUMSA, Scholas Occurrentes, European Schoolnet. Government partners: INAB and MARN. Private benefit company: zeroCO2 (reforestation in the same Petén communities). Donation platform: 1Caffè.

How can my organization partner with Comparte?

Comparte welcomes academic partnerships (faculty teaching online seminars to CUDEP), grants, and joint project applications. Contact info@comparte.it with a one-paragraph proposal and a contact person.
